I’ve been trying to wean myself off Kahoot and start using other quizzing apps for months now. Nothing comes close to that bright colour palette and upbeat but not too peppy music.

Hi Matthew
Thank you for keeping this up – and great to read about your week 4. I like the simple structure of the session, and like the idea of having a Google Doc at the end of more sessions as a ‘linking’ device (connecting the group members and linking the course to the life afterwards)
Thank you for the inspiration and food for thoughts!

You’re very welcome Zhenya! Whenever teacher sharing leads to teachers thanking teachers, I recall lines from a paper by Anne Fernok (here: http://bit.ly/2hCpswk, thank you in advance, powers that be, for not jailing me for sharing knowledge). I don’t know that I fully grasp and understand, really, all the CDS stuff, but it’s quite poetical to me; beautiful nonsense. The yellow highlighted section a few pages in says “In associative learning, just as a range of mutually influential factors in interlanguage development can account for regularities in complex system ‘attractor states’, so they may have bearing on what Lortie described…”
and HERE’S THE LINE THAT’S BEEN STUCK IN MY MIND FOR 3 YEARS NOW:
“…teachers sharing common experiences may also share an ‘attractor state’ with stable cognitions…these may even be shared with learners”.

Hi Matt,
I’ve been meaning to comment on this one for ages! I’d love to have a link to your Kahoot. I made one on grammar terminology as part of an early-course input session, though it took rather longer than I could probably afford in that session! https://create.kahoot.it/#quiz/5ea807e2-4833-4d09-942a-cc26022e058b
This is a summary of what I do about tech on CELTA. I’m happy to send you my slides if you’re interested. https://sandymillin.wordpress.com/2015/01/16/integrating-technology-into-celta/ It’s interesting to see how it compares to your session. In mine I mostly end up waxing lyrical about Quizlet and online professional development, depending on whether I get to do a separate online PD session 🙂 Seems like yours is probably much more organic and useful!

I’m not sure; I doubt if mine is better in any way than yours – but I’m happy to share back and forth and simply help each other make our sessions the best they can be! Thanks for the links above and I’d love your slides. I’ll rustle up what I’ve got and send it over and maybe post what’s hosted online here, that way others could check it out! 🙂
