The result of isolation, privatism, and/or lack of connection between a teacher’s personal and subjective experience of their teaching work and fellow teachers’ experiences…or other stimuli/scaffolds for self-awareness and development. It’s not fertile ground or open space for productive reflection. Something along those lines. Basically the *opposite* of the CELTA course environment, where everyone sees everything you’re doing, thinking, and feeling and you see them. Then – *poof!* all of that drops away and you *may* not even discuss in a constructive way, or even so much as mention a critical incident in a class for a year. That’s the vacuum to beware of!
